Robinson Hole

This place is very special and hard to get to. It is also the only available hot spring in the area on the east side of the Bruneau River. This place is one I don’t want to write too much about. It is a local favorite and hard to access. I’m sure you can find it if you want to and if you can get there you have earned my approval.

This very remote place got some international attention back in 1989. The Rainbow Family of Living Light (Rainbow Gathering) chose this spot for their 18th annual World Peace Gathering.

It became one of the most logistically isolated and culturally contrasting gatherings in the event's history.

Robinson Hole sits miles down rough, high-clearance dirt tracks deep in Elko County near the Idaho border. Attendees had to hike long distances carrying food, communal cooking cauldrons, water filtration systems, and medical supplies down into the canyon.

Despite the harsh terrain and rough road access, 10,000 to 12,000 people made their way into the little canyon and stayed for two and a half months!

Down by the river, they put together a temporary cashless village. They built gravity-fed water lines piped from mountain springs, set up dozens of communal free kitchens, and maintained "cat trenches" for sanitation.

A clean-up crew stayed for weeks after that- but you can still see remnants of them.

All I will end with is this. It is an all day adventure on a side-by-side/ atv. Two tubs, a juniper tree trunk, and 1400ft elevation drop. Stay safe.
